Common questions

  • How does eyelash growth serum work?
Regular, repeated application of this medication to the upper eyelid lash line promotes eyelash growth. The medication works to create more hair follicles during the hair-growing cycle and increases melanin production to make eyelashes darker.

  • How much does eyelash growth treatment from Nurx cost?
Consultation: Anyone who requests an eyelash growth prescription will be charged a $20 consultation fee.

Medication: Medication prices for eyelash growth serum are $53 per month ($159 charged for a 3-month supply), and are not covered by insurance. Shipping is always free.

Support Fee: Nurx will charge a flat $3 support fee each month one or more of your orders are processed. This fee covers your unlimited, on-demand access to our customer care team as well as certain processing fees.

  • Does Nurx accept insurance for eyelash growth treatment?
These medications are not covered by insurance and are only available with out-of-pocket pricing.

  • What type of medication does Nurx prescribe for eyelash growth?
We prescribe bimatoprost, also known as generic Latisse®, for eyelash growth. It’s clinically proven and currently the only FDA-approved product for eyelash growth.

  • Who can use eyelash growth serum from Nurx?
While Bimatoprost (generic Latisse®) is generally considered a safe medication, it may not be a good fit for certain individuals. It is not a fit for patients with glaucoma, elevated intraocular pressure, macular edema, uveitis or iritis, and recent eye surgery or trauma in the last 3 months. Additionally, patients who are pregnant, planning to get pregnant in the next year, or breastfeeding will not be a fit for this medication at this time.

  • What's the difference between eyelash growth serum and eyelash extensions?
Eyelash growth serum is a prescription medication that works to create more hair follicles during the hair-growing cycle and increases melanin production to make eyelashes darker. Eyelash extensions are a cosmetic enhancement in which fibers are glued onto your natural lashes.

  • Is eyelash serum safe?
Bimatoprost (generic Latisse®) is FDA-approved for eyelash growth and is generally considered a safe medication. A licensed medical provider will review your health information before prescribing generic Latisse® to ensure it is medically appropriate for you.

Important Safety Information: Latisse is an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate lashes. If you use prescription products for eye pressure problems, or have had eye problems/surgery, consult your doctor before using.

  • Does Bimatoprost (generic Latisse®) have any known side effects?
    • If you have eyelid eczema, you may experience some worsening of symptoms.
    • There is a possibility of eyelid skin darkening, which is usually reversible when treatment is stopped.
    • There is a potential for discoloration of soft contact lenses, which can be avoided if you remove contact lenses before application and wait at least 15 minutes after application to reinsert them.
    • Common side effects include itchy and red eyes. Lashes gradually return to previous appearance if Latisse is discontinued.
